STUDENT
Whether you consider mentoring the next generation to be part of your job description, being a work placement employer definitely has its rewards. Hire a student through Mentora College today!
Benefit from keen students with new skills who are eager to gain real-world experience through Mentora’s industry-work placement practicum!
MCBT partners with top Canadian and international companies to help our students apply their newly-learned skills in a meaningful industry-work placement during their third semester. Industry work placements are offered in our Business Administration Management and Hotel Management programs.
The advantage
Work placement employers who hire a student get access to motivated Mentora students, who bring a fresh perspective and youthful energy to their placements and are eager to apply their new skills and diverse life experiences to your projects.
Many work placement students go on to be permanent or seasonal staff at their placement organizations. Not only does this reduce your recruiting costs, but it helps with retention since you’ve already established there’s a good fit and the new hire is already very familiar with your organization.
Our work placement program is coordinated by Mentora’s administration team, whose members help facilitate placement interviews, support students through their workplace transition and supervise them during their work term.
Following the placement, admin staff ensure students receive timely feedback about their performance and co-op supervisors have the opportunity to provide input on the program.
In the first and second semesters, our Business Administration students learn from lectures, collaborative projects, presentations, interactive discussions, and case studies. In their third semester, each student completes a work placement, allowing them to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom.
The tourism industry is heating up, and our hospitality students are eager to apply their learnings from their first 2 semesters into their work placement in their third and final semester.
All work placements are 384 hours in length and students work full-time hours at the company that’s hosting them. Because of our rolling admission, co-op students are available for placements all year long.
